Hospitalist Program
The Long Island College Hospital of Brooklyn (LICH), Department of Internal Medicine, launched a Hospitalist Program to provide care and ensure continuity for local physicians in the community whose adult patients need hospitalization and who choose to use their time more effectively in their offices.
LICH started the program recognizing the benefits to quality patient care by hospitalists which has been seen on a national level. Hospitalists are experts in inpatient medicine and oversee patient care from admission through discharge. The hospitalist stays in close contact with the patient’s referring physician. All patients are returned to their primary physician in order to provide seamless continuity of care. The hospitalist group also provides medical consultation services to physicians in other disciplines, including preoperative clearance and perioperative management.
The Hospitalist Program provides:
- Immediate, easy access to a member of our LICH Internal Medicine staff for urgent phone consultation and/or hospital referral
- An evidence-based approach to inpatient management combined with compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Availability to provide medical consultation for patients on other services throughout the hospital.
LICH is pleased to welcome the team of hospitalists to its ranks:
- Robert Levey, MD, Department of Internal Medicine, Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs and Chief of General Internal Medicine
