The Didactic Experience
One of the strengths of this program is the didactic teaching program. All of the services and the nursing staff are aware of the emphasis we place on these programs and try to ensure that the residents are free from clinical activities at this time. Residents are required to attend 60% of the department conferences. The didactic program includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Grand Rounds, which feature renowned practitioners and researchers presenting topics of interest for both the primary care provider and the subspecialist
- Clinical Pathology Case Conference
- Acute Care Core Curriculum
- Medicine Noon Conferences
- Research Design & Statistical Conferences
- Medical Legal Series
- Clinical Ethics Series
- Journal Club
- Ambulatory Case Conference
- Clinical Pharmacology
- Harrison Club
- Oncology Conference
- Specific Subspecialty Conferences
- Professor Rounds
- Managed Care Curriculum
- Medicare Compliance Conference
- Impaired Physician Conference
- Educational Leave of seven days each year for all senior residents with an educational stipend in the third year of the program.
The didactic experience is further enhanced with annual teaching days honoring the memory of past chairman, the Edson Conference.
